Team Composition and Experience
Summit Partners (Pty) Ltd is whole-owned black and managed company. The Fund will initially be managed by the founding partners: Tsatsi Mahlatsi, and Zulu Xaba and they will be complemented, once operational, by recruitment of a team of highly skilled individuals support staff.
Managing Director – Dr Zulu Xaba
Dr Xaba was a Senior Risk Manager at South Africa Futures Exchange and a Risk Assessment Manager at Eskom Treasury. Dr Xaba was a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund.
He was a member of Risk and Audit Committee and Strategic Investments Committee. Dr Xaba was a Chief Risk Officer at the Public Investment Corporation. He was a Chair of the Executive Risk Management Committee and the Investment Valuations Committee. He was also a Member of investment review committee providing risk oversight over investment pillars. He attended World Bank Treasury (Washington DC) and Blackrock training (New York) (highly regarded training programmes in investment finance). Executive Director – Mr Tsatsi Mahlatsi
Mr. Mahlatsi has more than 29 years of business experience, in Deal Structuring, Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Risk Management and related fields.
Mr. Mahlatsi has worked for major companies such as PPC Cement, Palabora Mining Company (Owned by Chinese Consortium led by Hebei Steel) Cooper & Lybrand (now called Price Waterhouse Coppers), Imperial – Ukhamba, Eskom and SARS.
At Ukhamba, Mr Mahlatsi was a member of the Investment committee and part of the management team responsible for a portfolio of 18 investments. He has extensive investment, capital raising, valuation, treasury and deal structuring experience.
